Prior to 2001, South Africa
Cares for Life, a national networking body, facilitated the needs
of Crisis Pregnancy Centres and other related ministries. However,
due to the rapid growth of the organisation we felt prompted by God
to form a new umbrella body with its own identity whereby we could
support and encourage one another through prayer and sharing of resources;
so in February 2001, a transitional committee was established, and
later that year in September, Africa Cares for Life was officially
launched at the annual SA Cares for Life conference.
Initially we established
a committee consisting of 4 regional co-ordinators, a national co-ordinator,
and provincial co-ordinators for each region as well as a consultant.
Africa Cares for Life now consists of a management team as well as
a Board of Directors that serves the organisation. Africa Cares for
Life does not own any centre but exists to serve centres, whether
in the planning stage or already functional.
What unites us all is a
desire to express in a compassionate way God’s heart concerning
abortion, His care for all life however conceived, His love and concern
for the mother and father facing an unexpected pregnancy, and His
forgiveness and redemption for those who have chosen abortion. |
